As we celebrate the birth and life of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we may better understand his love for us by contemplating the depth of his condescension. We may also better understand Heavenly Father’s love for us by pondering the majesty and infinite scope of all the creations made under his direction by his Son, Jesus Christ. When we think of how all creations are made for the benefit of God’s children, and how much Jesus sacrificed to become the Savior of his Father’s children, we may begin to glimpse the intimacy of our relationship with our Heavenly Parents, and with our Redeemer, and with the Holy Ghost. We may begin to catch the vision of our individual roles in God’s great, eternal family, and how blessed we are to belong to his divine lineage and to experience our mortal probation on this earth, which is our Savior’s footstool.

Please join me in remembering the birth, life, and sacrifice of our savior, Jesus Christ. He lived a sinless life. He forgave sinners. He loved his enemies. His is the perfect example of righteousness and living peaceably with others.
He taught us to esteem our neighbors as ourselves. He taught us to pray saying, “Our Father, which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:9-10)
Old Testament prophets such as Daniel, looked to the future with hope. They knew of Christ’s birth; that His sacrifice would fulfill the Law of Moses. Prophets of old new that after His death and resurrection, God would continue to call prophets and apostles to reveal His secrets to them.
The Prophet Amos declared, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secrets to his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7)
In his mortal life Jesus established his church and kingdom on the earth. He led his church and kingdom with the Apostles and Prophets who he called and ordained. They willingly followed him and also taught His gospel.
After the death of Christ, Peter led the church with the other apostles of Christ by divine revelation and with the same priesthood and authority that Christ had. Peter and the other prophets and apostles eventually died or were put to death. Revelation from God to those that He authorized to act in his name regarding the administration of His church, was lost.
Divine revelation and priesthood authority truly was lost. For Centuries good people strived to live as closely to the example of Jesus Christ as they could, but without prophets and apostles to write the teachings of the Resurrected Lord, many changes to His gospel were made and many vital truths were lost.
Religious confusion lead to persecution, doubts and death of many who desired to believe in Christ.
Several centuries passed. From around 100 AD to the early 1800s AD, the world lacked the church and Kingdom of God that Jesus organized while he lived in mortality. But in the early 1800s, religious revival lead to the restoration of the church and Kingdom of God on earth today.
In answer to a sincere prayer of faith in Christ to know which church to join, God the Eternal Father, and His beloved Son, who was born in Bethlehem and sacrificed on Calvary’s Hill, appeared to a young boy named Joseph Smith. This divine appearance continued to prove the words of Amos to be true.
The authority to act in the name of God with divine revelation was again restored to the earth. Through this renewed revelation and divine priesthood authority, Jesus Christ restored his church and kingdom again on the earth.
The revelation to the prophet Daniel, who foresaw and foretold the establishment of the kingdom of God, never again to be destroyed (Daniel 2:44) started to come true when God the Father and Jesus Christ once more began to reveal their secrets unto their servants the prophets (Amos 3:7).
Daniel’s vision continues to be true. With the establishment of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by divine revelation to the prophet Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ has again invited us to come unto him, to no more be strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and household of God (Ephesians 2:19).
His household and kingdom, which we are invited to attend, is his church: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jesus Christ, who was born in Bethlehem, who died on the cross at Calvary and rose again; He lives. He loves us. The nearer we draw to him, the happier we will become.

Last Sunday, I was looking at a picture of Baby Jesus in the hallway at Church. I pondered how amazing it is that the innocent child laying in a manger 2,013 years ago is the Creator of this earth and countless earths like this one.
The Creator of numberless worlds, lying in a manger, embarking on His divine mortal mission to save all of His Father’s children who kept their first estate. A newborn baby, fully aware of every soul and every need and every endeavor, everywhere.
Mere hours prior, he had communicated to the prophet, Nephi on the opposite side of the planet, assuring Nephi that the day had come when the sign of His birth in Bethlehem would be given. A day and a night and a day as if there were no night.
And we get to live on this very earth to which Christ came to complete His atonement. We are privileged beyond what we can comprehend. This earth is His footstool. He has countless articles of furniture in His Kingdom, yet He placed his mortal feet upon this earth. How can we forget?
